Ten in bed

  Ten In A Bed

Action poem

There were ten in a bed and the little one said,
“Roll over, roll over.”   rolling motion
So they all rolled over and one fell out.
There were nine in the bed and the little one said,
“Roll over, roll over.”
So they all rolled over and one fell out….

This is repeated until you get to the number one.
Each time “roll over” is said, rolling motion is dramatized.

There was one in the bed and the little one said,
“Good night!”

Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake,

Baker’s man!

Bake us a cake

As fast as you can,

(Alternate clapping baby’s hands and yours)

Mix it and prick it

(Pretend to stir bowl, then prick cake)

And mark it with B,

(Make a ‘B’ in the air)

And put it in the oven

for baby and me.

(Alternate clapping baby’s hands and yours)

Itsy bitsy spider

2009 január 6. | Szerző:

The itsy, bitsy spider, climbed up the water spout.

Down came the rain and washed the spider out.

Out came the sun and dried up all the rain,

So the itsy, bitsy spider went up the spout again.

?!?!?!?
Itsy-bitsy comes from the word “ici-pici”, which is used in Hungary to tiny, small things. It was taken into the US (to Hollywood) by a Hungarian film director in the early 20th century. Then he used it in everyday life and stuck to others. This is the one and only Hungarian word that was adopted to English.

true or not, who knows?!? at least we understand it… 🙂

Baby bumblebee

2009 január 2. | Szerző:

I’m bringing home a baby bumblebee,
Won’t my mommy be so proud of me,
(Cup hands together as if holding bee)

I’m bringing home a baby bumblebee,
Ouch! It stung me!
(Shake hands as if just stung)

I’m squishing up the baby bumblebee,
Won’t my mommy be so proud of me,
(‘Squish’ bee between palms of hands)

I’m squishing up a baby bumblebee,
Ooh! It’s yucky!
(Open up hands to look at ‘mess’)

I’m wiping off the baby bumblebee,
Won’t my mommy be so proud of me,
(Wipe hands off on shirt)

I’m wiping off the baby bumblebee,
Now my mommy won’t be mad at me!
(Hold hands up to show they are clean)

Here’s a cute verse to add to the song…

I’m bringing home my baby dinosaur
Won’t my mommy hide behind the door
I’m bringing home my baby dinosaur
Ooh eee it stepped on me!

Five little ducks

Five little ducks
Went out one day
Over the hill and far away
Mother duck said
“Quack, quack, quack, quack.”
But only four little ducks came back.

Four little ducks
Went out one day
Over the hill and far away
Mother duck said
“Quack, quack, quack, quack.”
But only three little ducks came back.

Three little ducks
Went out one day
Over the hill and far away
Mother duck said
“Quack, quack, quack, quack.”
But only two little ducks came back.

Two little ducks
Went out one day
Over the hill and far away
Mother duck said
“Quack, quack, quack, quack.”
But only one little duck came back.

One little duck
Went out one day
Over the hill and far away
Mother duck said
“Quack, quack, quack, quack.”
But none of the five little ducks came back.

Sad mother duck
Went out one day
Over the hill and far away
The sad mother duck said
“Quack, quack, quack.”
And all of the five little ducks came back.

Raindrops, raindrops
Falling all around.
Pitter-patter on the rooftopfs.
Pitter-patter on the ground.
